White Christmas Punch

It’s after Halloween, and I’m guilty of already thinking about Christmas. It’s hard not to considering the stores are already putting out the Black Friday adds and putting up the Christmas decorations. I haven’t started decorating or playing Christmas music yet, but I’ve definitely been dreaming up some recipes and cookie ideas. This White Christmas Punch is one of them. This white chocolate raspberry cake is another.

White Christmas is one of my favorite movies this time of year. It’s classic, and well Bing Crosby…need I say more? So I wanted to make a White Christmas recipe. I wanted something that was fun and pretty. But also the kind of punch that might have been served when the movie came out. (1954 for those  wondering.) And I came up with this little beauty that is subtly sweet and creamy and of course gives you that snowy Christmas-y feel.

Ingredients

  •     1/2 cup sugar
  •     1/2- 1 tsp almond extract (I used a teaspoon)
  •     3 oz evaporated milk (6 Tbsp)
  •     1/4 cup hot water
  •     1 2-liter bottle of 7UP®
  •     1/2 gallon vanilla ice cream
  •     Whipped cream and sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine sugar and water in a small glass bowl. Heat in the microwave for about 30 seconds or till sugar is dissolved. Cool and stir in evaporated milk and almond extract. Pour into a large punch bowl and add vanilla ice cream. Use a potato masher to break ice cream into small chunks. Slowly stir in the 7UP®.
  2. Spoon into serving glasses. Garnish with whipped cream and sprinkles if desired. Serve immediately.
